Project Q&A with Ringve & Rockheim

Ringve museum and Rockheim museum are part of The Museums of Southern Trøndelag (MiST) and is one of our Norwegian partners in this project. MiST takes care of, produces and disseminates knowledge about Norwegian art and cultural history through exhibitions, publications and a number of public offers adapted to different target groups. For MiST, art and cultural heritage are signposts towards an unknown future and the reference point for the past. MiST’s task is to create exciting encounters between past, present and future. The institution aims to safeguard and communicate both cultural heritage and contemporary art, and through this be an active social actor and participant in the national cultural policy. We have asked Ringve and Rockheim four questions about the project so far.

  1. What are your institution's goals for this project and how do you plan to achieve them?

Learning about– and gaining inspiration for ways to teach and showcase ICH in a museum setting.

One of our aims is to work more methodically with dance and intangible cultural heritage. We hope to be a good partner to the dance community in the years to come.

  2. What are your thoughts on the project per now?

The discussion during the workshops and meeting experts from other countries are interesting, Every practical events are nice.

The project is well-organized and developing according to plan. The discussions are useful for the purpose of the project, but also for our daily work.

  3. Have you learned something new?

It was inspirational to learn about the informal and playful ways dance is taught in Hungary.

  4. What is your institution's contribution to this project and it's consortium?

To be part of an international discussion about dance in museums. We share and reflect upon our experiences and practices with dance at the museum.
