This film shows the richness of the traditional dance communities in Trondheim, Norway. The communities are, and always have been, intergenerational, but have for some decades now been divided into separate communities for traditional dances and swing dances. We believe arranging open dance parties common to the different communities will be the future for the traditional dance community in Trondheim, making the dance parties relevant for new participants. There is a trend now, a wave showing us that dancing traditional couple dances is very popular amongst the younger generations. Dancing entails some elements that are still valued today; diversity, inclusiveness, enjoyment, good music, a relaxing atmosphere and the opportunity to dance with whomever you want.
