Sustaining Traditional Dance as Intangible Cultural Heritage

Editors: Rebeka Kunej and Theresa Jill Buckland

This monograph features new research on sustaining traditional dance as intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in Europe.  Undertaken primarily in association with the EU project Dance-ICH, the studies embrace key examples from Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Norway, Romania and Slovenia. In exploring various strategies, dynamics and responses, the authors pose questions of value and best practice that arise when local dance communities, heritage-focused institutions and the general public seek to assure the health of traditional dance practices as intangible cultural heritage.
